At 9 a.m. on May 27, 2017, the 16th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students Myanmar Mandalay District Preliminaries was held in the Auditorium of Rebecca Hotel. The competition is hosted by Confucius Institute Headquarters(Hanban), undertaken by the Chinese Consulate General in Mandalay, and co-organized by Fuqing Confucius Classroom in Mandalay, Myanmar.
Vice Consul General Diao Ming, Consulate General of the People ’s Republic of China in Mandalay, Consul Tan Jielai, Chairman of Burma-China Friendship Association Wu Bomin, Ye Jianguo, Chinese Enterprise Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Wu Jue Dengte, Vice President of Myanmar Traditional Medical University, Chinese Department of Mandalay University of Foreign Studies Director Du Qin Mi Mi attended the contest. More than 200 people, including representatives from various Chinese communities in Mandalay and parents of students, watched the competition. Local media reporters, Myanmar State Television MRTV, China Hunan Satellite TV and others conducted special interviews.
The theme of this competition is "Dream Lights the Future". Excellent students from Mandalay, Taunggyi, Lashio and other regions participated in the competition. The competition is divided into three parts: written examination, speech and talent display. The written test and lecture session were held on the 26th in the multifunctional hall of Fuqing Confucius Classroom in Mandalay. The competition requires players not only to have high Chinese expression skills, but also to master knowledge of Chinese culture and national conditions. Today, the players continued their final competition by displaying their talents.
The talents presented by the contestants during the talent show are colorful, including folk dances, singing Chinese songs, recitations, calligraphy, martial arts, sketches, etc. It shows students' love for Chinese culture and their enthusiasm for learning Chinese. The contestants are excellent students selected by universities around the world. They are not only gambling and versatile, but also have a deep understanding of China. After the talent show, 6 people with higher scores were selected, and then three competitions were conducted to select the champion, runner-up and runner-up. The three links are: select speeches, watch videos to answer questions, and watch videos to talk about feelings. This session tested the students' memory, ability to perform on the spot, and adaptability. After numerous examinations and fierce competitions, MA SAPAE PHYU (Yin Ruibang) of Mandalay Computer University won the championship with superb dance posture and fluent Chinese. It is reported that she will represent Myanmar to participate in the finals of the 16th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students.
